Devil May Cry 4 – Sounds

28 11 2007
If you’ve been following DMC 4’s release closely, you might also have taken an interest in the music and sounds. In Devil May Cry, most of the game took place at night and also in-doors. In Devil May Cry 4 trailers and game play videos, we can see Nero and Dante having a really nice time out in the open, some fresh air, ay? The sun is shining in some of the early demo footage of Nero before he wanders into a church. Not only that, he’s at a bay in the morning. The use of water sounds, morning birds maybe and a lighter, brighter sound of wind than the cold, steely wind we heard in DMC 3.

Here are some images a forum user (RamMB) directed me to. They show how the demo guides new people through the game. Although, any gamer who was good at DMC 3 will obviously skip most of this.

What sparked my interest was the new voice saying, “Devil May Cry” when the game starts again, and then saying it again when someone presses START, but with a slightly different tone, and of course, a bullet before she says it. And that’s another thing… she. DMC is known to have women saying their title name, and oh god yes does it feel good to say, “Devil May Cry” but I was hoping maybe this time we could get some guy action. In DMC 3, if you cheated in the title menu, you get the following (Stylish) combinations of voices saying DEVIL MAY CRY.

  1. Lady & Sparda
  2. Dante & Vergil
  3. Vergil & Lady
  4. Lady & Dante

And that’s all, ehh… I think.

Moving on, I decoded a video file with all the demo showed. It was good, but I’m not going to host it or whatever. Here are sounds that I ripped. I also edited them to take out any un-related to the main sound I tried to rip.

“Devil May Cry”

“Devil May Cry” 2

“Devil May Cry” Echo

And in case people didn’t know, the band now doing the DMC 4 music is Larc-En-Ciel. Four Japanese males. They sound quite a whole lot like DMC 3. Anyway, here is their site. Click. Aww, and they’ve even decorated the start-up for this holiday season.

Definitely planning on making that, “Devil May Cry,” play out when people visit the Blog. Stylish!

New speed run videos by DP (Dead Phoenix)

You can check out all of his new and old videos at his account on the crap video uploading site, Youtube.

Here is a fast kill of Beowulf.

And for his main video, hosted on Stage6, a speed run of Mission 13. The music is bad but the ownage is pretty cool.

Your computer or browser might not support DivX’s high use of the latest technology and programming, so you’ll need to upgrade, simply put. IE users may have problems with this. Visit Stage6 for further help.

Also, for anyone interested, I’ve cut out the SOUND from a DMC 4 trailer and made it into a playable track. You can still here all the fighting and trailer sounds, but it’s all I can give for now. I edited out all the starting trailer sounds as well as the ending and pauses.

VorTex

Inspiration struck me a few days ago. I was going through some DMC-Type battle when I imagined Dante in his red coat walking through a desert sort of area, maybe a canyon. Warm, definitely. But then it wasn’t Dante, it was just me. As I was walking forward (in my imagination), the enemy came into sight.

Possibly one of my most inventive enemies yet. No, not some demon with more limbs than a human, not a normal human with fancy hair and amazing straight. None of that, no… what I saw was a helicopter. Not a normal one, rounded edges and smaller. Pure black with sword-type long, razor sharp blades for the propellers. It also carried two small mini guns as its eyes. I immediately started to imagine what a battle with it would be like. Then added more than just a helicopter that’s modified. What if this helicopter didn’t need to worry about hitting the floor and banging off walls. I decided that the blades and body of the helicopter could withstand a lot of damage, as well as the propellers being one of the most major weapon aspects. To further some weaponry, the smaller propellers you see at the back of normal helicopters are also blades, but that can extend longer and change from a vertical direction to a horizontal one, just so nobody can easily attack the back.

The front is not a window, just complete black like the rest. Two large blades drop out from underneath when needed, the heaviest of all the blades. Not as much cutting power as the hyper-spinning propellers, but certainly more push. Very large, reaching down to the ground from about 20ft. With the helicopter proceeding forward at tremendous pace, when these blades are let loose, they cut into the ground, knocking anything out of it’s path and often times, slicing objects in two. Certainly not a thing any human would want to face, nor any normal military machine, either, because the blades can still cut through most metals.

I’ve named it, VorTex. Forgive my recklessness in the drawing below. It’s just a Beta and done very quickly. I expect my final showing of VorTex to be much better and for my ideas to evolve and adapt. The sketch simply shows a beta version of VorTex spinning towards the drawing view. VorTex is at full throttle, so, as helicopters do, it slants almost completely forward. But because of it’s special abilities, it does not spin out of control or take any damage as a normal helicopter would.

I’ll post more about this if I choose to continue the idea, or adapt it.
